Cartoonish battle royale has fun top-down take on gameplay.

Great but gory.

This is a very fun game, although there are many violent bloody effects. There is no such thing as "too much violence" in the context of a cartoon game, so such disgusting images were a welcome sight.

Thanks to a different camera perspective, this online fight to the death works much better on tablets and phones than similar games. Like other battle royale-type games, Battlelands Royale is an online shooter in which players parachute onto a battlefield and use the weapons and ammo they find there to eliminate the competition to be the last survivor standing. As the number of enemies diminishes, so does the size of the battlefield. But what makes this different from similar games -- and work better on the smaller screens of a tablet or phone -- is that it swaps a first- or third-person perspective for a top-down one. This not only gives Battlelands Royale an old school arcade vibe like a twin-stick shooter, but it also makes it easier to play without a controller.

Surprisingly, this higher camera angle helps you play with a partner watching your back, which is a nice twist. That said, it does have some problems. For example, the controls could be a bit more responsive and offer more options for customization. Also, aside from the top-down perspective, it's still the same as every other battle royale game. But even with these issues, Battlelands Royale is a fun shooter for those who want to be the last one standing.
