What’s It About?
CULTUREVERSE episodes feature a new character, a new background and a new cultural adventure. "The Dangsan Tree" celebrates the Korean ceremony of Jesa. Kevin, the main character, travels through a sacred cosmic tree to see his late grandfather. In "The Cholito de la Suerte", Isa meets the mythical creature from Mexico and learns that if she takes care of him he would give her money for the rest of her life, only if he remains a secret. Native languages of many of the cultures explored are incorporated within the stories.
Is It Any Good?
As the stories have been modernized to bring ancient mythical characters to life, the plots sometimes can seem a bit random while remaining entertaining. Cultureverse is a great way to learn more about ancient folklores that represent different cultures in a fun, interesting way. Listeners can appreciate the educational and concise tone used by popular hosts Kelly Marie Tran and Yara Shahidi, as well as their narration full of expression, likely backed by their amazing acting talents. Expect high quality sound effects, music, professional acting from multicultural voice actors and fascinating creatures.
