Davey & Jonesie's Locker

The series has two teenage girl lead characters, and their gender representation is non-stereotypical (goofy, rule-breaking). A nonbinary character who uses they/them pronouns is the coolest person at school and was elected class president without even running. Davey and Jonesie's good friend is gay. Main character Jonesie is Black, and there are diverse supporting characters. A student of Asian descent is presented as being odd, and likely neurodiverse (she licks a banner for the school dance, wears headphones to the school dance); the depiction is slightly mocking. The show creator is Evany Rosen, a female actor who also appears as the principal.

The law enforcement character has a gun that looks like a gun but shoots an electronic web that makes people disappear. There's absurd slapstick violence like a magician sawing a character in half and blood spurting everywhere (while Jonesie smiles delightedly). There are many scenes with characters in minor peril or with ominous undertones, but it always feels like it will end OK. Some of the versions of Mr. Schneider can be unsettling. Lots of hostility between characters, which Davey and Jonesie always play off with a joke.

A fair amount of innuendo between teenagers (e.g., Davey looking at her crush and saying "Mommy thirsty," Davey mentioning that she made a "lightly erotic stop motion film with Barbies," and calling a school dance a "mating ritual"). Some body part jokes, like implying that an adult teacher had a cucumber in his clingy shorts. No actual kissing on screen. Some tight outfits and bare midriffs.

Language like "hell," "crap," and "God-forsaken." Some mild verbal hostility like "shut up."
