What's the Story?
In DONKEY HODIE BEDTIME STORIES, Donkey Hodie and her friends read bedtime stories for the home viewer. Each short (5-6 minutes) features a character from the Donkey Hodie series, including Donkey Hodie herself (Haley Jenkins), Bob Dog (David Rudman), Purple Panda (Frankie Cordero), and Duck Duck (Stephanie D'Abruzzo). They first demonstrate a calming technique they use at bedtime, like stretching, or giving themself a big hug. Then they read a bedtime story, which is an animated storybook original to the show. Finally, they use their calming strategy again, sing a bedtime song, and settle in for a snooze.
Is It Any Good?
The short and sweet episodes in this show model positive bedtime routines for preschoolers. Bedtime Stories' young viewers can, with adult encouragement, learn some bedtime calming strategies they can use in their own life. The Donkey Hodie characters are calm and patient story readers, and the simple bedtime books will appeal to young viewers. While the show is slow paced and gentle enough to be appropriate in a child's bedtime wind down, some grownups may not want to incorporate screen time into a bedtime routine.
