What's the Story?
Frankie Foster is burned out. Caring for a house full of imaginary friends is no small job, and while she loves the creatures, including Bloo, Wilt, Coco, and Eduardo (Tom Kenny, Spongebob Squarepants), but she can't even find a moment to read her magazine. Add in getting bossed by the butler-esque bunny rabbit Mr. Herriman, and Frankie is ready to crack. So when she finds a toy box at the front door and accidentally discovers a magical world where her every whim is catered to, it feels like a dream come true. However, when she gets trapped there, it's up to the imaginary friends to set her free. Can they make it through the many obstacles lurking in this land?
Is It Any Good?
This delightful special is a treat for Foster's fans and a fun romp through a beautifully animated McCracken dreamscape. The retro candyland Frankie takes refuge in is a clear homage to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, with some nods to Disney's Beauty and the Beast. The imaginary friends are forced to step up, work together, and in the end, finally understand how hard Frankie works to make their lives easier. It's a rare message of gratitude that parents will appreciate and kids will absorb as they get lost in the adventure.
