What's the Story?
MILO is about a young cat named Milo (Evan Capstick) and his best friends Lofty the giraffe (George Ravencroft) and Lark the bluebird (Eleanor Stollery). Milo's parents own a dry cleaning business. Every episode starts with an animal from Milotown dropping off their work uniform to be cleaned. Suds, a talking laundry robot, cleans the uniform, and also invites Milo, Lofty, and Lark to slide inside its magical pipes. Through Suds, the three friends are transported to a place where they wear a uniform and try out the customer's job. They might be tennis players, hairdressers, or even astronauts for a day! The animals learn that there's fun in every job, especially when they work together as a team.
Is It Any Good?
These sweet stories are super simple, which lets the learning shine through. Adults may find Milo's pacing a bit slow, but it's perfect for preschoolers to be able to absorb the information and learn. All jobs are shown as being equally fun and exciting, whether Milo and friends are astronauts or car mechanics. For little kids who are still learning what grown-ups do all day, Milo is a sweet and upbeat show that introduces variety of professions.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about the job Milo tries out in each episode. What do you think would be fun about that job? What do you think would be hard about that job?
Milo and his friends learn about the importance of teamwork and working together. How do they use teamwork to make their jobs easier?
