What's the Story?
Best friends Tony and Tyler use a machine to travel back in time and help their friends get out of sticky situations in TINY TIME TRAVEL. Since their invention can only go back a few hours, it's key that the boys find the root of the problem. By using different communication tools and social skills to understand others better, they learn how to avoid making the same mistakes.
Is It Any Good?
This is a funny and engaging series that families can enjoy together. Tiny Time Travel cleverly blends social-emotional lessons with the concept of time travel, appealing to both kids and caretakers. The show uses media language similar to what kids see online but at a slightly slower pace, which helps them focus on the intended lesson. While older viewers may find the plots simplistic, the blend of fantasy and familiarity allow the lessons to shine through.
Some parents may worry about the show's message on reverting mistakes (real life doesn't have do-overs!), but it's a whimsical part of the series meant as wish fulfillment. Ultimately, the show's focus on understanding the root of problems resonates well, with positive friendships between boys and diverse representation as additional bonuses. With plenty of catchy tunes, Tiny Time Travel can teach many communication skills to kids and adults alike.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about the communication tools used in Tiny Time Travel. Ask your kid to consider people's body language when they are happy or upset—what clues do they notice? How can they confirm their interpretation?
In one episode, Tony and Tyler struggle to work together because Tyler communicates in a way that Tony doesn't understand. Think of times when you've had to adjust your speech to help someone understand, like explaining a show to a family member who hasn't seen it or helping a younger sibling with homework.
While a tiny time travel machine isn't real yet, what are some ways we can resolve difficult situations after making a mistake?
