What's the Story?
TINY TRAVELERS MEXICO TREASURE QUEST takes readers on a journey through mariachi-filled plazas, to the Pyramids of Teotihuacan. From the Lucha Libre ring, to the flower filled boats of Xochimilco, young readers will enjoy learning about Mexican culture and traditions while making magical discoveries along the way.
Tiny Travelers is the latest initiative from Encantos, which developed the Nick Jr. animated series, Canticos. Mexico is the first country featured in this series. China, Puerto Rico, and India are a few of the other countries featured in this series of travel books for kids. These colorful and informative board books celebrate our world's diverse cultures and hopes to inspire kids to become citizens of the world -- seeking to build bridges and cultural understanding for today’s globally-minded families. These kid-friendly travel guides of sorts are designed with preschool and elementary school kids in mind to help them explore geography, language and culture. The Tiny Travelers suite of products will eventually grow to include apps, books, content, consumer products, and more. You can visit the Tiny Travelers website to learn more.
Is It Any Good?

Kids will learn all about Mexico, including traditional Mexican foods -- tacos, tortas, and tamales. They'll experience an Alebrijes Parade and learn about the imaginary creatures made of papier-mache or wood. Each page presents fun facts and hidden objects to find. Readers visit places of interest, including Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Michoacan -- where they see a traditional Day of the Dead celebration. Part scavenger hunt, this colorful search-and- find book takes kids on a journey to better understand the customs, traditions, and history of a far away land. The can even explore the jungles of Chiapas to discover the animals that live among the ruins of Yaxchilan, an ancient Maya City. This is a wonderful book to share with young kids -- to broaden their horizons and discover new places of interest!
The back of the book includes a brief letter reminding readers to go back and check that they've found all the hidden treasures. A Tiny Travelers Treasure Quest Mexico Checklist is included. Kids check off stamp-like images featuring illustrations of items found in the book -- alebrije, molcajete, axolotl, and jaguar, just to name a few.
