A fairly comprehensive history of the musical group TLC, this documentary follows remaining members, Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas, through the highs and lows of their careers. Their frank and honest review of TLC's journey in TLC Forever will be refreshing and nostalgic for those old enough to have lived through the heights of their popularity, and for newcomers, this documentary will serve as an introduction to how significant and inspirational TLC was and is for many artists that followed them.

Ahead of their time in many ways, TLC was not your average "female pop" group. Instead, T-Boz wore "boys' clothes" and Lisa "Left Eye" Lopez was a brash and outspoken rapper who openly talked about safe sex and sex positivity. Their hits included songs about the dangers of drug addiction, unsafe sex, and unfair beauty standards for women. They stood for better treatment of women in the industry, and many artists in the film speak lovingly and highly of the group and their journey. Further, this look at the group's history is also fair and honest, with a particularly kind and measured depiction of Lopez, who the media at the time often treated unfairly. An easy scapegoat, Lopez struggled with these pressures and later, her position within the group, but her love for life, creativity, and musical craft were undeniable.
