Fat shaming & poor role models. Too much consumerism.

Cute, and very popular among young children. I dislike it because it’s highly supported by consumerism and the characters are not great role models. They’re mischievous and on previous episode have highlighted the dad figure (REPEATEDLY) as fat. He can’t play or enter the treehouse because “his tummy is too big.” The creators have tried to disguise this under the guise of promoting “fitness.” They fail and instead encourage bullying and fat shaming. It’s a very frequent theme for this British show driven towards consumerism.

Is It Any Good?

Though at its core this app is a collection of mini-games, it's a cohesive, appealing assortment that's both age-appropriate and kid-friendly. Kids will find a balanced dose of passive recreation (videos and ebooks), interactive games, and creative play. And while the activities aren't original in any way, there are a lot of them, they're well made, and they appeal to a range of interests -- with a promise of periodic new content to keep it fresh. Through it all, World of Peppa Pig prompts kids with some guiding sparkle visuals and encourages them with clear instructions, and a light bulb icon gives more hints. The primary coloring activity is open-ended, with multiple tools for kids to choose from, as well as some fun character stickers. One downside is the series of coloring pages that are quite difficult to color using the one-size-fits-all virtual paintbrush that also provides a magic wand to paint the whole image in one fell swoop (erasing anything kids have already colored). But it won't take long for kids to figure out how to make it work. There are enough freebies to keep little ones busy, but be prepared for subscription reminders as kids try to access locked content. Overall, this one is definitely worth checking out, especially if your preschooler already loves Peppa.
