What's the Story?
LONGING tells the story of Daniel (Richard Gere), a wealthy bachelor who discovers that, nearly 20 years ago, his former girlfriend gave birth to a son he never knew about—a son who has recently died. As he explores his late son's life through the people closest to him, Daniel is forced to evaluate his own life choices, learn how to cope with confusing new emotions, and deal with his own grief journey.
Is It Any Good?
This drama about love, loss, and self-discovery distills the complexity of grief. Longing (a remake of director Savi Gabizon's own 2017 Israeli film) is entertainment art wrapped inside of a deep, personal grief journey. And it's an emotional roller coaster ride that has tears and darkness along with dreams and hope. Gere's tenacious, earnest performance is gripping and may prompt some viewers to reevaluate their own life choices.
