What's the Story?
In ZOMBIES: THE RE-ANIMATED SERIES, the characters from the Zombies movies get the chance to have a more normal high school experience (well, normal for a school full of monsters who like to break into song). Thanks to A-Spen's alien time warp technology, Zed, Addison, and friends get to re-do their senior year at Seabrook High School. Zed (Milo Manheim) has already gotten into college, so he's looking at the bonus year as an opportunity to goof off. His crush Addison (Meg Donnelly) and best friend Eliza (Kylee Russell) have a different approach, instead using their extra time to learn more before college. Since they aren't facing any existential threats like in previous Zombies stories, Zed, Addison, Eliza, and the rest of the Seabrook gang can get into regular teenage hijinks. Zed tries inventing a healthy soda that accidentally changes all his friends into zombie-mode, and Eliza wages an epic battle to save her beloved school vending machine. Through it all, the zombies, aliens, humans, and other monsters are determined to have the best senior year ever.
Is It Any Good?
The three Zombies movies have themes of working toward inclusivity while overcoming prejudice and other conflicts that drive their stories forward. Since ZOMBIES: THE RE-ANIMATED SERIES is just the characters from Zombies leading "normal" high school lives, there's less heart and substance. Kids will enjoy the abundant silliness and paranormal atmosphere. Characters break out into song frequently, and the pop songs are super fun. Since the storylines aren't very deep and don't connect much back to the movies, the series may fall flat for kids who aren't already into the Zombies movie franchise.
